XMCD measurements for light elements have been performed to investigate
the spin state in spintronics materials such as graphene/Ni(111).
Although the XMCD intensity requires spin-orbit interaction (SOI), those
measurements show some XMCD intensity even for light elements, which
have less SOI. In this work, SOI at non-absorbing atoms is taken into
account in the present theory. The present numerical calculations show
SOI in scattering process may contribute to XMCD intensity. This result
might provide a way to evaluate interaction length of SOI between light
elements and magnetic atoms.
