Japan is an island country in East Asia. It has 6852 islands. The four largest are Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu, and Shikoku, which make up about ninety-seven percent of Japan's land area.

Place of Chiba
Japan consists of forty-seven prefectures. Tokyo which is a capital and largest city of Japan is in the Kantō region (green region in the figure) on the southeastern side of the main island Honshu. Chiba Prefecture is on the southeast of Tokyo. Chiba is the sixth most populous prefecture, and 27th largest by land area.
